Brian Farley, Acadia Healthcare’s general counsel and secretary since July 2023, has sharpened the company’s legal and compliance posture amid an active period for behavioral health services. As head of Acadia Healthcare’s legal team, he oversees securities law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, litigation, labor and employment, and regulatory compliance, serving as a strategic advisor to the executive team and the board.
Farley arrived at Acadia Healthcare following a high-profile tenure at GoHealth, where he was chief legal officer and corporate secretary. At GoHealth he led legal, regulatory, compliance, SEC and government affairs functions and guided the legal work for the company’s 2020 initial public offering. That experience in navigating public markets and complex regulatory environments is central to his current role, where transactional work and governance challenges intersect with patient-care operations.
Before GoHealth, Farley held senior legal leadership positions at Allscripts, Motorola Mobility and Level 3 Communications. His time at Allscripts included serving as executive vice president, general counsel and chief administrative officer, while at Motorola Mobility he directed global legal efforts during significant corporate transactions. Earlier roles at Level 3, Rhythms NetConnections, e.spire Communications and the firm Collier, Shannon, Rill & Scott rounded out a background steeped in commercial law and regulatory matters.
At Acadia Healthcare, Farley leads a team of attorneys tasked with anticipating legal risks tied to growth, M&A activity and evolving healthcare regulations. Observers note his combined operational and regulatory experience positions him to help Acadia balance expansion with compliance, particularly as the behavioral health sector faces scrutiny and rapid consolidation.
Farley holds a JD from The George Washington University Law School, an MBA from the University of Colorado and a BA in Political Economics from Colorado College. His education, coupled with extensive industry experience, underscores a legal leadership profile focused on governance, risk mitigation and enabling strategic transactions that support Acadia Healthcare’s broader objectives.
